ECCO - Fast pipe centering for economic production of large pipes
When the production of large pipes which have thick walls is started, the start-up process is difficult and lengthy. Centering of the pipe is a special challenge as temperatures inside the extrusion die differ. This has an influence on the flow process of the melt which in turn leads to irregular wall thickness sizes around the pipe.
ECCO - Optimum pipe centering when production is started.
Ultrasonic sensors are mounted directly on the calibration sleeve and a high-resolution ultrasonic electronics evaluates measuring data. Variations in wall thickness distribution are displayed on a 10 inch screen.
Measurement is done automatically, without prior entry of a recipe. Wall thickness distribution is then visible on the screen. Thin points or thick points can at a very early stage be compensated through precise adaptation of the extrusion die.
