The flexible calibration sleeve: absolutely round pipes, surface quality produced as planned.
The flexible calibration sleeve permits the continuous adaptation of various diameters and wall thicknesses in large setting ranges. The highest possible flexibility in the production process comes true.
The setting range for diameters is 1:2,5. For example, one calibration sleeve is sufficient for the production of all diameters and their corresponding wall thickness.
An overview.
The flexible calibration sleeve is mounted inside the vacuum tank. It consists of two sections: the inlet segment and the calibration cage, both are adapted by synchronized motors.
Due to constantly supplied water through the movable segments of the inlet unit, the inlet section has two main tasks:
- Safe and reliable sealing of the pipe towards the vacuum tank
- Creation of a homogeneous surface structur of the pipe
Inside the calibration cage, the exterior diameter of the pipe is formed through the vacuum created in the vacuum tank. The unique construction is made of diagonally aligned circumferential bands which have a flexible link at their crossing points. This construction is set up as follows:
- Contraction of expansion varies the interior diameter of the cage. This permits the precise variation of the exterior pipe diameter.
- A pipe-shaped trelliswork is created of which the interior contour is absolutely round in any position. As a result, the pipe that passed through the cage is perfectly round.
